Vicki and Fred James are Morning Star Ministries, a ministry focused on the people of the Colville Indian Reservation in North/Central Washington State. They have very little funding and no building but they make up for it in the love they have for the people they serve.
Vicki first heard God’s call ten years ago while working in the school system on the reservation. God impressed upon her the importance of introducing the children to the Gospel. Morning Star Ministries was born as a result of that call.
Vicki’s father worked on a ranch on the reservation so she was reared there. She left and met Fred, a Native American from Nevada. They married and over time returned to the Colville Reservation.
Because Morning Star Ministries has no building, their work with the people is more “seasonal” than they would like. They minister in a local park during the summer months, providing the children of the reservation with Vacation Bible Schools and Back Yard Bible Clubs.
The reservation is surrounded by natural beauty; however, like most other reservations, it suffers the effects of alcoholism, drug abuse, sexual abuse, diabetes and poverty. But this does not stop Vicki and Fred as they minister to the people they love.
The tribal council leased some property to Morning Star Ministries and we hope to see a building going up in the near future.

Until then, Mission Ventures will continue to aid Morning Star Ministries in ministering to these beautiful people in any way possible.
